Per request, I'll post a little about how my new job has been going.
So far, so good.
I think I like the people I work with. They seem to like me pretty good too.
Interesting humor mistranslations... or something:
A girl commented on... I think it had to do with my being early, I don't remember the context exactly but she said, "That's good, so I guess you're not a cereal drinker."
At least that's what I heard, so I responded, genuinely confused, "What...? Like the milk from the bowl?"
Again, I was
just trying to understand her comment, but they thought that was
FUNNY. Apparently she was saying I wasn't a
serial drinker... as in, an alcoholic.
Anyway, even understanding the misunderstanding... that is obviously not that funny (I'm sure at least my readership would agree). But I'm not kidding, I even had someone come up to me the next day and say they told their dad about it and, I quote, "He busted out laughing saying, 'That's like something
I would say!' And it's so true! He would've said something like that!"
I mean, I'm flattered, and I love that they got such a kick out of it, and I know it says a lot about how well we're all getting along. So I'm not bashing it, but as for why that's so funny... yeah, I don't get it either.
But
this, on the other hand:
Apparently a body was found on the driving range of a local golf-course here.
When they were telling me about it, it was something they were shocked I hadn't heard. "You haven't?! Well, when was it again?... Anyway, a transient's body... it was a female... was just found on the golf course one morning. During the night they think someone dropped her off there. They don't have any idea how she died."
"Are they sure it wasn't a driving accident?"
That, was apparently
NOT funny.
