Worth Writing... Not Necessarily Worth Reading
I know it’s been a while.
I think when you lose your momentum, you get caught up in trying to define what is worthy of writing about or not… or at least what is worth posting on a public site. And maybe a fear of writing a blog and realizing: I’ve waited so long to blog… for this? Bummer.
So, what to write about…
I love reading sci-fi. Especially old short stories, like Ray Bradbury and Isaac Asimov. The possibilities they thought up for the future of mankind fascinate me.
Einstein said, “Imagination is a preview of life’s coming attractions.”
I don’t know about you guys, but I get caught up in some pretty strange tangents in my mind.
It starts as a very logical thought process. Like I’m driving somewhere and I end up behind a slow car, but instead of getting mad, I think, What if I was suddenly the only person on the road. How fast would I get somewhere, would any of the laws be applicable?
So then I think, What kind of scenario puts me as the only person on the road. I can think of some bad ones… apocalypse, WWIII, plague, etc… I don’t want to think about those. Ooh, how about alternate dimensions…
Yeah what if, instead of in top secret government labs, or down in a crackpot genius’ basement, it’s the Department of Public Safety that develops inter-dimensional travel…?
Just as a way to more efficiently utilize our highway and road systems.
OR maybe it was for the Public Transportation System.
There you go, it was originally developed for busses and emergency vehicles, they just hop into a few pre-approved dimensions where there is no traffic on the roads (but there are roads, so maybe one of the aforementioned disasters happened in some of these dimensions) and get people where they need to be in a fraction of the time… and at a nominal fee.
Maybe some of the wealthier are able to get a license for the DOV (Dimensional Occupancy Vehicle) lane.
BUT, oh no! Outlaws have gotten a hold of the technology and are using it to break laws and escape and stuff!!
A new breed of Highway Patrol is born. The Trans-Dimensional Detectives are on the case!
Okay, I know this is a lame entry. I just had to post something, so I would start posting anything... again.
