D.U.D.s

I had a dream last night that a new holiday was declared.

National Dress-Up Day.

Not like halloween where you dress up as something, but where you put on your finest, dressiest (maybe even most formal and/or extravagant--I'm not sure if there's a difference) clothes for the day.

I know a lot of girls would probably be up for something like that.

But in this dream it wasn't just that people would dress up, but they would also treat each other like ladies and gentlemen... a lot of "Sir"s and "Madam"s being thrown around.

And people went to a lot of places even though no one was really expected to work... like the mall was open and the people who work there were there (all dressed up) but no one was really buying anything, people were just wandering around being seen in their Dress-Ups.

Lots of wandering around. Like stopping at several different people's houses for brief visits to compliment and be complimented on their clothes.

And some people would even have an entirely different set of clothes for a big National Dress-Up Evening.

A big formal evening event... like a ball (I guess) (I bet a lot of the men would probably just wear what they wore during the day).

Anyway, at one point in my dream I was back at work (before the actual Dress-Up Day) and people were talking about how Thanksgiving was still their favorite holiday... and one girl was saying how it was just something cooked up by big Corporate Fashion companies to make even more money by selling these new expensive clothes.

Hi Shad!
You're right, being that I am a girlie-girl, I would LOVE National Dress-Up Day!!!:) Especially if men & women treated each other with the respect that we should. JB & I are probably having a formal Christmas Party, so you'll get the chance to pull out your best digs & have some fun!!!

OK, so I am already thinking about what I would wear...the dress, the shoes, the jewelry, how I would wear my hair... And would the evening be a "masked ball" or...??

Monday, Good Morning America was talking about a new "disposable tux" that JC Penny has introduced for $99. It's made from a Mexican wool. Didn't look too bad.

Buenos días América. ¿Cuándo terminará el racismo? ¡Simplemente porque algo es Mexicano no lo hace para tirar! ¿Además, a quien son $99 para tirar?

Bromeo.

Yo sólo quise otro puede de gusanos.

according to babelfish.altavista.com shad say this:

'Good morning America. When will finish racism? Simply because something is Mexican does not make it to throw! In addition, to who they are $99 to throw?

I joke.

I only wanted another one can of worms.'

That was way more fun than if it had been translated smoothly.

But I agree. When will finish racism? It seems that morning news programs just want to furter divide the country on key issues such as mexican wool and web camera lip synch artists. I'm all for free speech but this is dispiccable. You may have only wanted another one can of worms, but you got it and thensome, buster.

Thanks Coy, that is more fun. Unfortunately it also takes some of the originality out of my plan for my next entry: to post my entire next entry as a twice-poorly translated composition (into a free translating program as English into whatever other language, then copy and paste that back into English...).

Your translation is pretty close. What I had originally typed (into aforementioned free translator) was:

Good Morning America. When will the racism end? Just because something is Mexican does not make it disposable. Besides, to whom is $99 disposable?
I joke.
Just wanted another can of worms.

sorry to take away from the originality of future entries. i get accussed of that all the time. you could always delete my comment. although you'll owe me a slightly original moment for my blog.

no, you'll owe me nothing but to love me.

By the way Coy, the last paragraph of your first comment had me LSHMTDOHJ***.
I did only want another one can of worms, but now I see the benefits of having so many more, at least that way, after I'm done with one I will have others that are make it to throw.

***stumbled onto this gem while blog hopping;
this guy
is funny.

Holly: Your party sounds like fun, I'm going to plan to be there.
(Especially now that I know I can just run to JCPenny for a quick tux (and make it to throw, at that)).
Can I wear my chaps?

Yeah, Shad it's not quite that type of party...I'd leave the chaps at home this time, but I promise you I'll find some other type of shin-dig in which you can wear your chaps to :). Will you actually "RSVP" this time on the evite? Notice this time I put "As a common courtesy" please RSVP...that was all for you man!
